Thanks, Daniel! The Milken Archive is wonderful but it is a part of UCLA and I know they're not interested in the actual physical material. They have been a funder of the CSMA so I am grateful. NLI is great too and has Dr. Amalia Kedem, a chazonus expert, as a librarian on staff. But shipping all of this stuff to Israel (when a ton of it is already in North America) seems unnecessary. I could be wrong! My ideal one day would be that the CSMA could be global like KTIV: https://www.nli.org.il/en/discover/manuscripts/hebrew-manuscripts
Thank you, Matt. Hazzan Kieval z”l was also my beloved teacher and I have a lot to thank him for. And I remember crying over all those first copies and hand written pieces that “nobody was interested” in maintaining, conserving or taking care of… afterwards, as Hazzan Kieval used to say with a non-commital nod of his head…
It seems to me that there are two options - the Milken Archive and the incredible Jewish Music archive at the National Library of Israel.
